Under the general direction of the Material and Stores Supervisor II (M&SS II), the Material and Stores Supervisor I (M&SSI) will be responsible for the Recycling and Salvage Program (RASP). The M&SSI will complete daily and weekly recycle accumulation figures and will prepare monthly reports. He/she will also be responsible for the receipt, storage and issuance of a large volume of varied merchandise in the Support Warehouse. The M&SS I will also be responsible for the supervision of incarcerated people workers assigned to their area of responsibility. The M&SSI shall perform other job related duties as assigned per institutional need.

Individuals who are eligible for a Training and Development assignment may also be considered for this position(s). Effective July 1, 2025, the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) was implemented. PLP 2025 requires that each full-time employee receive a 3 percent reduction in pay in exchange for 5 hours of PLP 2025 leave credits monthly through June 2027. Salaries do not reflect the recent changes.

Working Conditions About this location -- Sierra Conservation Center (SCC) is located in the foothills near Jamestown, California, in the heart of the Mother Lode Gold Country.It is adjacent to the Stanislaus National Forest, offering pine trees, mountain streams, and an abundance of recreational activities (fishing, swimming, camping, skiing, golfing, etc.).The prison is approximately 70 miles from Yosemite National Park.

The primary mission of SCC is to provide housing, programs and services for minimum and medium custody incarcerated individuals, to aid in their rehabilitation. SCC is responsible for the training and placement of male incarcerated individuals in the Conservation Camp Program. SCC administers 31 male camps located throughout California.

Knowledge of: Modern warehousing methods and practices, including the keeping of receiving, shipping, and inventory records; freight rates and classifications; Office of Procurement specifications; regulations involved with consolidated freight shipments, stock array systems; freight claim procedure; operation of motorized material handling equipment; inventory and quality control.

Ability to: Read and write English at a level required for successful job performance; perform heavy physical labor; estimate possible future demands of various supplies based upon past needs; direct the work of others; keep accurate records and prepare reports of work done; analyze situations accurately and take effective action; learn the operation of forklifts and other types of motorized material handling equipment.
