Senior Forestry and Fire Protection Planning Manager

Location: Pacific Northwest (Seattle or Portland office with regular travel). Overview

Build strong client relationships with key decision makers and agency representatives to identify and pursue new business prospects. Coordinate and facilitate meetings with clients, partners, and regulatory agencies where Dudek work products are presented and reviewed. Cross-sell other disciplines within the company and pursue collaboration opportunities. Lead proposals for projects of varying complexity, scopes of work, budgets, and bids. Engage in the professional community by attending and speaking at industry conferences and training sessions. Draft chapters for urban forest management plans, including best practices, municipal budgeting, performance metrics, canopy studies, community engagement, and related ordinances and policies. Oversee projects from initiation through completion, ensuring timely execution and efficient delivery. Conduct individual tree evaluations and risk assessments; collect data using tablets, field computers, and GPS in the field. Produce arborist and technical reports with recommendations for tree and urban forest management. Provide expert consultation to clients on tree care, preservation, and management strategies. Present research findings to decision makers, project teams, and industry groups. Remain current with industry advancements, methods, and best practices. Lead or support the development of Silvicultural Analyses, CWPPs, Fuels Assessments, or Vegetation Management Plans, as appropriate. Utilize modeling tools (e.g., FVS, FlamMap) to inform treatment planning and risk assessment prioritization. Conduct or supervise hazard tree identification, post-fire risk evaluations, or vegetation risk reduction across utility corridors, roadways, or public lands. Contribute to wildfire and forestry sections for NEPA documentation as part of multidisciplinary teams. Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in forestry, natural resources, environmental science, or related field. 12 years of experience in arboriculture, urban forestry, fuels planning, wildfire mitigation, and/or hazard tree and vegetation risk assessment in the Pacific Northwest. ISA Certified Arborist with Tree Risk Assessment Qualification (TRAQ). Strong writing, project management, and client development experience; proficiency with GIS and GPS; knowledge of arboricultural and vegetation management practices. Knowledge of developing urban forest management plans, data sources, sustainability principles, climate change considerations, and ISA standards; familiarity with financing. Experience with modeling tools such as FVS, FlamMap, BehavePlus, or FARSITE preferred. Valid driver’s license and active personal automobile liability insurance by start date. Preferred Qualifications

Experience with USFS, BLM, NRCS, state forestry agencies, tribal governments, or local fire districts. Experience supporting municipal permitting processes for utility infrastructure fire safety. Familiarity with Fire Protection Plan (FPP) preparation and relevant codes (IFC, NFPA 855) for infrastructure projects like Battery Energy Storage Systems. Experience with ROW vegetation clearance, IVM strategies, or utility wildfire mitigation plans. Compensation

Salary range: $115,000-$135,000 annually. Final compensation based on experience, education, certifications, skills, and location. Pre-employment drug test and background check required. Working Conditions

Remote or office-based environment with standard office equipment. Occasional project site visits outdoors, with exposure to weather, uneven surfaces, noise, and moving vehicles/equipment. Physical Requirements
