Under the direct supervision of the Assistant Manager or the General Manager, the Desk Clerk is responsible for screening visitors and monitoring activities at the front desk of TNDC properties. The desk clerk provides administrative support and helps maintain site safety. Responsibilities
Screen all visitors to confirm they are the authorized guests of building residents. Ensure visitors are escorted by tenants at all times. Respond to emergencies as needed. Maintain a complete and accurate confidential Building Log. Fill out incident reports as necessary. Report violations of House Rules, Regulations, and rules of conduct outlined in the Rental Agreement. Participate in all required trainings for the job function, including job-specific and company-wide trainings. Oversee front entry and lobby to ensure cleanliness and security; perform minor janitorial duties as needed. Provide administrative support for the Assistant Manager (open and time stamp mail and invoices, prepare check requests, recertification packets, and filing). Answer phones and operate intercom system as needed. Provide information to tenants, visitors, and applicants concerning Housing. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications
Required Skills Ability to work tactfully and under stress. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Ability to read, write and communicate in English. Ability to follow directions and work independently. Willingness to be on-call with access to a phone. Good judgment, conflict resolution abilities, and dependability. Ability to work with and be sensitive to a diverse, multicultural, low-income population. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion regarding residents issues. Physical Requirements Coordination of eyes, hands and fingers for typing, writing, and reading tasks. Ability to move around buildings, climb stairs, and stand or sit for periods of time. Visual acuity to inspect buildings and review documents. Hearing acuity to use the telephone and communicate with residents and staff. Ability to work in an office environment and in various residential buildings as needed. Mathematical Ability Ability to perform basic arithmetic as needed for job duties. Judgment and Situational Reasoning Ability to use independent judgment in non-routine situations, such as dealing with disturbances. Good judgment and conflict resolution skills. Language and Communication Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers, staff at all levels, and residents, verbally and in writing. Ability to understand policy changes as they apply to the desk clerk position. Respond appropriately under pressure; maintain an even temperament and strong interpersonal and customer service skills. High School Diploma or GED required. Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. Experience in affordable housing environments. Familiarity with the Tenderloin Neighborhood and related services. Experience in conflict resolution, crisis intervention, and resident relations.
