EFIN Engineer, Electrical - Plant Vogtle Units 3&4 (Waynesboro, GA). Southern Nuclear Operating Company's Plant Vogtle 3&4 Site Engineering organization seeks a high performing Electrical Engineer with an analytical mindset and strong technical and leadership skills to support operation of the next generation nuclear power station. This position will be located at Plant Vogtle in Waynesboro, Georgia. Job Summary
This position is assigned to the Site Design Engineering organization in the EFIN (Engineering Fix-It-Now) group and is part of the Engineering organization at the Vogtle 3&4 site. The role provides electrical engineering support for troubleshooting and design changes primarily for the station’s electrical equipment. Specific Responsibilities Include
Obtain Design qualifications and support development and implementation of design changes for Vogtle 3&4 and designs interfacing with the operating units Vogtle 1&2 Obtain emergency response organization qualifications and serve on a duty team rotation Develop and maintain technical knowledge regarding AP1000 electrical systems and equipment design; support development, implementation, and maintenance of programs, processes, and procedures as they relate to electrical systems Participate in industry groups (EPRI, IEEE, NEI, etc.) supporting electrical systems Educational Requirements
Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university EIT/FE or Professional Engineer Registration is a plus Job Requirements
Though there will be opportunities for remote work, must be willing and able to work at the site and reside close enough to respond within 90 minutes Commercial nuclear power plant experience in electrical design, modifications, and/or systems engineering is a plus Knowledge and understanding of commercial nuclear power plant regulations, codes, and standards is a plus 3 years engineering experience in electrical design is desired 3 years nuclear power plant related engineering experience is desired Previous design change experience is desired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Standard Design Process knowledge highly desired Knowledge of AP1000 highly desired Excellent oral and written communications skills Proven organizational skills with ability to balance multiple projects simultaneously Capable of making principled, data-based practical decisions that consider critical factors Ability to work efficiently across organizations Strong problem-solving and engineering decision-making skills to support plant safety and reliability Ability to present technical positions to all levels of management and external organizations Working knowledge of common computer tools, including Microsoft Office Word and Excel Behavioral Attributes
