Fire Sprinkler Designer – Summit Fire Protection Job Summary As a Fire Sprinkler Designer, you will operate with minimal supervision while completing project designs, submittals, and coordination with AHJ and contractors. You will be expected to be very familiar with Summit Fire Protection’s quality documents, procedures, and work instructions as they relate to the design function.

Key Responsibilities

Design automatic sprinkler systems, including fire pumps, tanks, wet, dry, pre‑action, and deluge systems using fire sprinkler codes.

Perform hydraulic calculations for each design.

Prepare submittal packages for AHJ approval and conduct necessary correspondence.

Participate in coordination meetings with contractors and design kick‑off meetings.

Assist with fabrication lists, material requisition, and field surveys to ensure design appropriateness.

Support field personnel with design‑related installation issues.

Submit final job close‑out documents after acceptance testing.

Follow Summit Fire Protection’s Safety program, SDS book, hazardous communication program, policies, and procedures.

Attend seminars or training sessions to stay current with technology, codes, and standards changes.

Communicate professionally with internal and external customers.

Perform any other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education : HS Diploma or equivalent required.

Certification : NICET II or NICET III and/or state required certification. Equivalent experience considered with NICET education.

Experience : 1–2 years as a sprinkler designer. Construction experience, mechanical aptitude, and basic/advanced math skills required.

Skills : Operate computer, Microsoft Office required. Familiarity with HydraCAD, SprinkCAD, or other CAD software preferred.

Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.

Compliance with SFP’s Drug and Alcohol policy and background screening requirements.

English reading, writing, and communication proficiency.

Physical & Work Environment

Office setting; occasional outside work. Exposure to hot/cold temperatures, dust, fumes, chemicals, electrical hazards, and noise.

Physical tasks: sit for long periods, bend, kneel, balance, lift

Require driver’s license for travel.
