SoFlo Customs, rooted in South Florida, builds experiences through custom vehicles and off-road enthusiasts who turn bold ideas into one-of-a-kind machines. We seek a detail-oriented and proactive Materials Manager to manage the procurement of automotive parts and sourcing of finished goods, including direct purchasing from overseas suppliers (primarily Asia). This role ensures a smooth, cost-effective, and reliable supply chain while maintaining optimal inventory levels to support production and sales. The ideal candidate understands international supply chain management, purchasing best practices, and has cultural awareness to partner with Asian suppliers across time zones.
Responsibilities
Identify suppliers, evaluate quality and delivery, and negotiate agreements to procure automotive parts and finished goods. Suppliers can be US or non-US based. Current supply base includes international vendors throughout Asia.
Develop strong relationships with all suppliers, especially Asia-based, demonstrating cultural awareness, respect, and adaptability in communication styles and time differences.
Track supplier performance ensuring quality, cost, and delivery standards are consistently met.
Develop KPIs and metrics to standardize and communicate expectations.
Inventory Planning & Control
Establish and maintain safety stock levels, lead times, minimum order quantities (MOQs), and reorder points.
Develop and implement a standardized SOP for ordering and replenishment.
Monitor inventory levels and forecast demand to balance working capital efficiency with shop efficiency requirements.
Logistics & Payment Management
Coordinate and oversee shipping schedules, customs requirements, and delivery tracking to ensure timely receipt of goods.
Track and reconcile supplier prepayments, with receipt of goods ensuring proper communication with the accounting team to meet financial controls and accurate accounting.
Partner with finance and operations teams to optimize purchasing terms and payment schedules.
Lead and mentor a materials team of 8.
Build a collaborative, accountable, and performance-driven team culture.
Establish clear roles, responsibilities, and KPIs for the department.
Process Improvement & Reporting
Build tools and dashboards to monitor supplier performance, purchasing efficiency, and inventory turnover.
Continuously improve procurement workflows to reduce costs, minimize stockouts, and shorten lead times.
Provide weekly, monthly, and quarterly reporting to accounting team and senior leadership.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain/Logistics or a related field required.
7+ years of experience in supply planning, purchasing, or procurement, with exposure to Asian suppliers.
3+ years of management experience, leading a team of 5 or more.
Experience negotiating supplier agreements, including international purchase terms.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with cultural sensitivity to global partners.
Confident communicator who is comfortable leading supplier discussions in different cultural contexts.
Proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets, ERP/MRP systems, and supply chain reporting.
Highly organized, detail-driven, and able to work across time zones to meet supplier deadlines.
Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, maintain focus, and adapt to a variety of challenges.
Ability to conduct detailed procedures in a time-constrained environment.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proactive self-starter with the ability to build processes from the ground up.
