This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) - a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval - award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, you must meet the basic requirements as well as any additional requirements (if applicable) listed in the job announcement. Applicants pending the completion of training or license requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met. Currently employed physician(s) in VA who met the requirements for appointment under the previous qualification standard at the time of their initial appointment are deemed to have met the basic requirements of the occupation. United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia Residency Training: Physicians must have completed residency training, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification Residents currently enrolled in ACGME/AOA accredited residency training programs and who would otherwise meet the basic requirements for appointment are eligible to be appointed as "Physician Resident Providers" (PRPs) PRPs must be fully licensed physicians (i.e., not a training license) and may only be appointed on an intermittent or fee-basis Proficiency in spoken and written English Additional Requirement: Board Certification: Physicians are generally not required to be board certified for employment in VA Physical Requirements: The work of this position is primarily facility-based and has no requirement for strenuous physical activity Duties

The VA Northeast Ohio Healthcare System is recruiting for a Psychiatrist The Psychiatrist will function in the Psychiatry Service The major duties include, but are not limited to: Maintains primary responsibility for the development and implementation of all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) Works with several different services and programs (i.e., Psychiatry, Psychology, Recreational Therapy, Vocational Rehabilitation, Social Work, Nursing, and Pharmacy) to develop discipline-specific procedures Oversees the management of needs of the building and occupants related to day-to-day business and is responsible for communicating larger needs or challenges related to building safety/security and maintenance to VANEOHS leadership Responsible for Homeless, Psychosocial Rehabilitation, Serious Mental Illness (SMI), PTSD, and substance use disorder bed sections in the Domiciliary, and oversees the specialized professional services that significantly impact the health care provided to VANEOHS Domiciliary Veterans Develops short- and long-range goals and plans, development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure goal attainment, management of administrative and programmatic resources, and outcomes monitoring using data-driven quality assurance processes Provides administrative oversight of residential program information and analytical systems to evaluate and enhance the quality of service provided to patients, develops and implements information systems to track service activities including admissions process, bed management, bed utilization across bed types, patient demographics, equipment utilization, and patient satisfaction Directs the clinical work of professional staff, including psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, licensed professional mental health counselors, nurses, vocational rehabilitation specialists, peer specialists, and trainees across disciplines Responsible for developing a budget, program development, and program oversight Provides oversight of staff who complete assessments of complicated cases involving psychiatric illness involving psychiatric, catastrophic medical conditions, dementia, and other high-risk diagnoses Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package, including Education Debt Reduction Program (Student Loan Repayment), competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases, paid time off, retirement, insurance, licensure, CME, and malpractice protection.
