We are looking for an individual who can provide Speech/Language therapy for students. This teammate will create a rigorous and supportive environment as our students and their progress in having a rigorous post-secondary educational experience.

Founded in 2008, Collegiate Academies serves over 3,000 students in five public high schools and two postsecondary programs in New Orleans and Baton Rouge. We see the individual greatness of every student who comes through our doors. We serve a dramatically higher proportion of students with special needs, students who are English language learners, and students who are from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. Our teams engage in regular observations, weekly coaching meetings and ongoing learning through professional development.

Role And Responsibilities

Speech and Language Services

Provide group and individual sessions according to the Individual Education Plan (IEP). Write annual speech progress reports and objectives on IEPs to ensure students are on track to reaching their most rigorous post-secondary outcome. Administer formal assessments to determine whether or not a scholar qualifies for speech therapy based on Louisiana Bulletin 1508 requirements.

Maintain compliance

Write daily progress notes as required by Medicaid regulations to ensure treatment ties directly to IEP goals/objectives. Keep certifications and licensure current and trained on electronic encounter tracking systems. Remain knowledgeable of current trends, including federal and state regulations in the field of speech-language pathology and special education to ensure compliance.

Build capacity and support staff collaboration

Consult School Leaders, Directors of Curriculum and Instruction and Directors of Intervention and Program Leads regarding opportunities to incorporate speech and language strategies in classroom settings. Provide professional development for teachers across the network to incorporate speech and language strategies into their classes.

Strong knowledge in the content area of choice, demonstrated through lesson planning, execution, and intervention with all students.

Qualifications

Must have a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Communication Disorders and carry a valid LA license to practice through LBESPA.
