Fairview is looking for a Histotechnologist at M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center - West Bank. The University of Minnesota Medical Center represents an integrated academic health care system and is comprised of two hospitals and dozens of adult specialty clinics on both the East and West banks of the University of Minnesota campus in Minneapolis. It is the flagship facility of Fairview providing breakthrough medicine and redefining the health of our community. This Opportunity Is Fulltime (1.0 FTE or 80 hours/2 weeks) Night shift position with 8-hour shifts Hourly shift differential paid for all worked hours Shift incentive bonus up to $2,000, paid out every 6 months Sign On Bonus up to $3,000 At Fairview our Histotechnologists work as part of a diverse team to produce high quality slides for microscopic evaluation. Our team members rotate through embedding, microtomy, routine hematoxylin and eosin staining, special stains, immunofluorescence, immunohistochemistry, and whole slide imaging. We serve a diverse patient population including pediatric and transplant patients and work with tissue types including kidney, liver, prostate, GI biopsies, bone marrows, cell blocks, dermatology specimens, and routine surgical cases. Required Qualifications Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college/university in a related laboratory field including the related lab practicum or equivalent routes as specified in CLIA’88 Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college/university with a combination of 30 semester hours in biology or chemistry AND completion of a NAACLS-accredited histotechnician or histotechnologist program Transcript must be provided, or Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college/university with a combination of 30 semester hours in biology and chemistry (must include credit hours in both) and transcript must be provided, or Completion of a 50-week U.S. military histotechnician training course and a baccalaureate degree with a combination of 30 semester hours in biology and chemistry (must include credit hours in both) and transcript must be provided 1 year clinical experience in a histopathology laboratory is required if NAACLS accredited program or U.S. military histotechnician training course is not completed Demonstrates the ability to work under stress in a variety of situations Ability to exercise independent judgment Demonstrates manual dexterity Possess or be eligible to receive appropriate HHS approved laboratory certification ASCP - HTL (Histotechnologist) within 1 year Preferred Qualifications 1 year experience of routine work and IHC special stains Benefit Overview Fairview offers a generous benefit package including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term and long-term disability, PTO and Sick and Safe Time, tuition reimbursement, retirement, early access to earned wages, and more.
