The Advanced Practice Provider reports to the Chief of Obstetrics and Gynecology or designee and is accountable to facilitate a quality hospital experience and outcome for patients within a cost-effective time frame. This is a day/night rotating position with night call responsibilities. The gynecologic Advanced Practice Provider works in collaboration with a multidisciplinary health care team and primarily functions as a hospitalist in an inpatient setting, caring for pre-, intra- and post-operative gynecologic/gynecologic oncology surgical patients and inpatients. Duties include taking admission history and physical, ongoing assessment and intervention, writing pre- and postoperative orders, coordinating inpatient/outpatient care, and discharge planning. The APP may first-assist in the operating room in procedures including minimally invasive surgery, laparotomy, and robotic surgery. Provides expert consultation to hospitalized patients and to those in the Emergency Department. All essential functions reflect age-specific needs of patients. Responsibilities
Manages a caseload of patients in partnership with the healthcare team to optimize health status and coordinate care over time and across settings. Leads development, validation, implementation, and evaluation of standards, policies, procedures, and critical paths to support patient care delivery. Oversees care coordination in acute and ambulatory care settings when feasible. Assists the healthcare team to achieve healthcare goals by providing support, education, and encouragement. Demonstrates advanced physical and psychosocial assessment skills and knowledge of family dynamics. Provides direct care to patients in acute and ambulatory care settings. Performs advanced practice skills under the supervision of the Chief of Obstetrics and Gynecology or designee. Provides expert consultation for clinical issues to promote knowledge and skills. Participates in education, clinical research, and mentoring of healthcare providers. Facilitates patient/family education in area of expertise. Annually completes mandatory safety infection control, BLS, and ACLS. Prescriptive privileges per licensure. Minimum Qualifications
Licensure as Registered Nurse in the State of Rhode Island by the Rhode Island Board of Nursing or licensure as an RN in accordance with the Nurse Licensure Compact. Master’s Degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program with Board Certification from the ANCC or AANP as an Acute Care or Adult Nurse Practitioner. Licensed in Rhode Island as a Nurse Practitioner with prescription-writing privileges. Ability to provide care to patients across the lifespan with cultural sensitivity. One to two years’ related experience. Work Environment and Schedule
General hospital environment with occasional stressful conditions. Night shift with nine 12-hour shifts per month plus 4 hours admin time; 8-hour daily hours; driving not required. Pay and Benefits
