Position Summary Academic Technologies is seeking a service-oriented student to provide support for the Student Laptop Checkout Program, which offers semester-long checkouts of laptop computers to students. This position is responsible for the day-to-day operations of this service, based in Woodward Hall. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent customer service skills and problem-solving abilities and an interest in technology support. The Student Laptop Checkout Program's hours are M-F, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Applicants must possess the ability to communicate technical information warmly and professionally with students, along with some faculty and staff. They must be able to work independently, organize time efficiently, multitask and be able to solve problems while working in a customer service environment.
Applicants will also assist in monitoring the do-it-yourself (DIY) video production studio in Woodward Hall and participate on projects, including technology maintenance and deployment projects in classrooms and computer labs across campus.
Duties and responsibilities include:
Provide customer service with laptop circulation processes for checkouts and returns and use of the Woodward Hall DIY Studio.
Maintain equipment inventory, both daily and seasonal inventory processes.
Provide Tier 1 computer support for loaner laptops, including basic troubleshooting and imaging computers (both Mac and Windows PC).
Assist in maintaining spreadsheets, forms, and applications that support the Student Laptop Checkout program.
Monitor use of the Woodward Hall DIY Studio.
Assist with technology maintenance and deployment projects in classrooms and computer labs.
Provide basic administrative tasks and demonstrate a willingness to use work time to learn and expand one's knowledge.
Minimum Qualifications
Enrolled in a degree-seeking program at UNM, at least half-time (6 hours) at UNM for fall and spring semesters.
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated customer service and interpersonal skills.
Experience providing high-quality service to a diverse range of customers.
Experience communicating technical information and the ability to collaborate and work in a team environment.
Proficiency with Windows PC and Mac operating systems.
Experience supporting and troubleshooting computers.
Ability to maintain composure in multifaceted high-pressure environment.
Ability to lift 25 lbs.
