Overview
Pharmacy Manager - Newly Increased Salary Range at Walgreens. Provides empathetic pharmacy consulting services to patients regarding the effective use of medications and drug interaction awareness. Offers preventive and clinical healthcare services, including immunizations, diagnostic testing, and patient outcome services. Ensures prescribed medications are compounded, reviewed, dispensed, and verified accurately according to regulatory guidelines and company policies and procedures. Responsibilities Engages patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services. Resolves patient issues in a timely manner and answers questions to ensure a positive patient experience.
Models and shares customer service best practices with all team members to deliver a distinctive and joyful patient experience, including interpersonal habits that show care and Walgreens service traits.
Connects with patients by anticipating needs and proactively offering services. Promotes the shift of Walgreens pharmacy role from transactional to interpersonal.
Counsels patients and answers questions regarding usage of medicine, side effects, interactions, contraindications, privacy, generics, cheaper medicines, and OTC products. Refers to medical providers as needed to ensure medication is taken correctly.
Performs pharmacist tasks including compounding, drug therapy reviews, verification, and medication management. Reviews, interprets, and dispenses prescribed medications in accordance with regulations and standards.
Manages the pharmacy workflow, inventory, and financial performance. Oversees staff scheduling, roles, activities, and training; ensures opening/closing and shift changes.
Ensures use of Good Faith Dispensing elements in line with state and federal controlled substance laws when filling prescriptions.
Partners with Store Manager to define strategic business opportunities and to develop the local medical community relationships.
Maintains pharmacy IT knowledge and supports staff and patients with systems, workflow, billing, documentation, training, inventory, and POS.
Supports insurance claims processing, resolves patient issues with insurers and providers, and participates in third-party audits as needed.
Follows up with medical providers on prescriptions, dosages, refills, interactions, and allergies; conducts or participates in diagnostic testing, disease state management, and other healthcare services.
Provides clinical and wellness services such as immunizations and other healthcare services.
Manages maintenance and improvements of the pharmacy department, including repairs, cleaning, equipment, and layout changes.
Prepares and submits records and reports required by laws to run the pharmacy business.
Qualifications BS in Pharmacy or PharmD Degree from an accredited institution.
Current pharmacist licensure in the states within the district.
Certified Immunizer or willing to become an immunizer within 90 days of hire.
At least 1 year of pharmacy experience including prescription filling, recordkeeping, compliance, operations, software/technology, and insurance billing (state-specific requirements may apply).
Experience with prescription dispensing and knowledge of state and federal controlled substance laws.
Internal candidates: average leadership behavior rating of at least 3.0 on last performance review, with no written disciplinary actions in the last 12 months.
