Overview
UNHS is looking for a full-time Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to become a member of our clinical team. The role involves assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients with a wide range of behavioral health needs across the lifespan. The PNP will work in collaboration with physicians, therapists, case managers, and other health care professionals to deliver holistic, culturally sensitive care that promotes wellness and recovery. Our clinic delivers integrated services including Medical, Behavioral Health, Pharmacy, Dental, Optometry, specialty referrals, chronic disease management, health education, and more. Location
Location: Various Locations at Utah Navajo Health System Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, including mental status examinations, patient histories, and risk assessments. Diagnose psychiatric conditions and develop evidence-based treatment plans tailored to individual patient needs. Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications in compliance with state and federal regulations. Provide supportive psychotherapy, psychoeducation, and crisis intervention as appropriate. Monitor patient progress, treatment adherence, and side effects, adjusting plans as needed. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care and ensure continuity across medical, behavioral, and social services. Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation in the electronic health record (EHR). Participate in quality improvement initiatives, case conferences, and continuing education to advance professional practice. Current, unrestricted license as a Nurse Practitioner in Utah Certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) by ANCC or equivalent board DEA registration with prescriptive authority for controlled substances Minimum of 1-2 years of clinical experience in psychiatric/mental health; new graduates with strong clinical training considered Strong clinical judgment, communication, and interpersonal skills Commitment to collaborative, patient-centered, and trauma-informed care Immunizations
Immunizations/vaccinations required for employment per UNHS policy (examples: MMR, Hepatitis B, Tdap, Varicella, Influenza, COVID-19). Documentation or declination as appropriate. Working Conditions
Outpatient clinic and/or telehealth settings; occasional inpatient or crisis coverage as needed Regular interaction with patients experiencing acute psychiatric symptoms or crises Evening or weekend hours may be required depending on patient and clinic needs Navajo Preference In Hiring
