Occupational Therapist OT - Acute Care PRN
MedStar Health is looking for an Occupational Therapist to join our team at MedStar Harbor Hospital.
The Occupational Therapist provides occupational therapy services to patients, including screening and evaluation, treatment planning, implementation, re‑assessment and revision, discharge planning, and documentation. The Occupational Therapist participates in program planning and protocol development, assists the team in meeting established goals, and works under the supervision of a licensed occupational therapist in accordance with state requirements.
Primary Duties
Provides evaluation services including review of pertinent historical information, performance of specific assessments, and determination of recommendations and documentation of results. Explains evaluation findings and treatment plan to patient and family and incorporates them in goal setting.
Demonstrates proficiency in implementing treatment protocols based on evaluation findings, the patient’s presentation, and the evolving health‑care environment. Consults with other healthcare professionals as indicated and recognizes documentation changes requiring modification of the plan of care or need for consultation.
Completes appropriate discharge planning and follow‑up care, accurately and timely documenting and charging for patient care activities, including focused initial evaluation/plan of care, daily encounter notes, interim progress summaries, and discharge evaluations.
Demonstrates effective time management and meets productivity expectations. Manages an accurate schedule and demonstrates a professional commitment to providing frictionless patient access to care through flexibility, adaptability, creativity, and empathy in a patient‑consumer–driven environment.
Takes initiative in pursuing and directing continuing education for professional growth and competency for self and organization; serves as a clinical instructor to assign students and assists with orientation and mentoring of new staff, students, volunteers, and technicians.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctoral degree from an accredited school of Occupational Therapy.
Licensure in Maryland, District of Columbia (DC), and/or Virginia as required for the specific location(s).
American Heart Association’s BLS (Basic Life Support).
