Time off benefits for this position include: Generous paid vacation time and sick leave 17 paid holidays, including Federal, Jewish, and floating holidays 2 Wellness Days to be taken any time during the year to support employees’ mental wellness Position Overview: An integral part of the team, the Nutrition Assistant provides direct support to the day-to-day operations of the Corner Market, Home Delivered Meals, and the Loonin Family Kitchen. This position will be responsible for supporting the evening operations of the Corner Market, in-person shopping, online order pickups, and daily warehouse and kitchen operations. The Nutrition Assistant will be working with volunteers and the Nutrition team, providing vital nutrition support to San Diegans facing nutrition insecurity. The schedule for this position will be Monday through Friday, 11:00am-7:00pm. Responsibilities: Provide support to volunteers working in the Corner Market to assist shoppers Restock the Corner Market as needed, maintaining a neat and organized inventory Update stock in the inventory management system Assist online order shoppers at their scheduled pickup time Assist in the Food Pantry warehouse: assembling packages of groceries and frozen meals for distribution, sorting and storing food donations and fresh rescue donations Assist shifts of kitchen volunteers to portion and package frozen meals, and other side work in preparation for the following morning Other duties as assigned Skills/Abilities That Are a Must-Have: Responsible, well-organized Comfort in using a computerized client management system Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, and organizational skills Ability to work with a wide range of individuals from diverse socio-economic backgrounds and origins Additional Information Required Upon Hire: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential duties and responsibilities of this job. As a routine part of work, employees will generally be required to use their hands to manipulate, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; and talk and hear. This position requires frequently lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Incomplete submissions will not be considered.
