Time off benefits for this position include: Generous paid vacation time and sick leave 17 paid holidays, including Federal, Jewish, and floating holidays 2 Wellness Days to be taken any time during the year to support employees mental wellness Position Overview: Working within the Nutrition and Aging Care Services Division, the Kitchen Assistant (Congregate Host) is a hub of support for multi-program operations, primarily focusing on administrative tasks, kitchen, warehouse and delivery support, and client-facing customer service. This position will have focused responsibility in two areas: delivery and service of lunch at the College Avenue Older Adult Center and leading an afternoon shift of kitchen volunteers to produce frozen meals and other kitchen prep for the following day. This position requires experience and a strong desire to work in a fast-paced, team environment and interact with staff, volunteers, and clients in a consistently personable, professional, and helpful manner. This is an active position, working with many people across a large division. The schedule will generally be 8:30am to 4:30pm. Responsibilities: Deliver meal components to Congregate dining site, assist Older Adult Center Coordinator to welcome lunch participants, and serve lunch in a welcoming, friendly manner Ensure all procedures for congregate dining are followed with consistency to ensure contract compliance Assist in preparing hot and frozen entrees, preparing and portioning sides, and packaging meals for delivery Oversee a shift of kitchen volunteers to portion and package frozen meals, and other side work in preparation for the following morning Model and foster a culture of respect on the team at all times Maintain a clean and safe work environment Follow food safety guidelines Skills/Abilities That are a Must-Have: Experience in food service industry, customer service, and kitchen preparation Creative problem-solving skills, ability to adapt to variable volunteer staffing levels Ability to read, write and speak basic English Clean DMV and ability to drive both personal and agency vehicles Required Formal Education and/or Licenses: High School diploma or equivalent Physical Demands of the Job:
