Lee County
We are looking for a shelter veterinarian to join our amazing Lee County Domestic Animal Services team. The practice is fully equipped to support excellent shelter care. We utilize dental equipment and X-ray machines. Our facility consists of exam rooms, wet tables, and a surgery suite. You will have a great team of technicians to assist. The pharmacy is stocked, and we are open to formulary adjustments and additions when justified. We have computerized medical records with numerous workstations throughout the building with a separate deck in a doctor’s office.

You will be performing medical procedures for the overall health of animals maintained by Lee County Domestic Animal Services. These include triage and emergency treatment of ill and injured animals, working with animals potentially carrying zoonoses, assisting co-workers in developing medical protocols and procedures, assessing cruelty cases with court testimony when required, as well as training and educating staff on various aspects of animal sheltering.
This position will often work independently under stressful conditions ethically and professionally and must maintain a clean and safe work environment. As well as other duties that may be assigned.
Doctorate of veterinary medicine or equivalent from an American Veterinary Medical Association accredited school of veterinary medicine. Active Florida Veterinarian License in good standing at the time of hire. USDA Category I license or the ability to obtain licensure within 6 months of hire date. Ability to obtain a Federal Drug Enforcement Administration License. Must possess a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. The workdays and hours for this position are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. In rare cases extra, or irregular hours may be required. This position requires after-hours telephone assistance to shelter staff with medical emergency questions on a rotating basis.
