Overview Virginia Mason Franciscan Health is hiring a Sterilization Technician for our GI Service line in Seattle, WA. The role requires efficient and meticulous decontamination and sterilization of surgical instruments and equipment, along with inspection and assembly of surgical trays, equipment, trays, and packs according to prescribed aseptic protocols.

Responsibilities

Perform tray assembly, instrument and equipment sterilization, and disassembly.

Assist in record‑keeping and monitoring equipment operations.

Maintain department inventory and identify supply, equipment, and procedural problems.

Dispense equipment and supplies.

Incumbents are accountable for demonstrating awareness of personal and work area safety at all times, using evidence‑based practices (EBP) and complying with facility safety policies and procedures. Responsibilities also include compliance with bloodborne pathogen and communicable disease protocols and maintaining up‑to‑date knowledge of aseptic techniques, basic microbiology, and sterile supply operations.

Requirements

Graduation from the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) and one year of related work experience that demonstrates attainment of the requisite job knowledge skills/abilities. Preference for experience in an operating room, acute‑care hospital, or central services department.

Current certification as a Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) by the HSPA at hire or within six months of date of hire, *OR* Current certification as a Certified Sterile Processing Distribution Technician (CSPDT) by the Certification Board for Sterile Processing.
