CS/Sterile Processing Technician

Job Summary
Perform efficient and meticulous decontamination/sterilization of surgical instruments and equipment, inspect and assemble surgical instruments, equipment, trays, and packs according to prescribed protocols and industry standards for aseptic technique. Rotate assignments among various decontamination, sterilization processing, and surgical tray assembly in a continually changing medical and surgical facility.

Assist in recordkeeping and monitor equipment operations
Maintain department inventory
Identify and report supply, equipment, and procedure problems
Dispense equipment and supplies
Demonstrate awareness of personal and work area safety at all times; comply with facility safety policies and procedures, including those for blood borne pathogens and communicable diseases.
Job Requirements
Graduation from the HSPA (Healthcare Sterile Processing Association) and one year of related work experience; preferred in an operating room, acute care hospital, or central services department.
Current certification as a Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) by HSPA at hire or within six months of hire; OR current certification as a Certified Sterile Processing Distribution Technician (CSPDT) by the Certification Board for Sterile Processing.
Current certification as a Certified Sterile Processing Technician (CSPT) by HSPA at hire or within six months of hire.
Current certification as a Certified Sterile Processing Technician (CSPT) by HSPA at hire or within six months of hire.
