Aerospace Transparencies Program Manager – Hybrid
We are seeking a professional to join the team that is defining how aerospace transparencies are produced for fixed‑wing aircraft and rotorcraft (military and commercial). The role involves overseeing the program lifecycle from concept through sustainable production and into sunset, managing cross‑functional teams, coordinating with suppliers and customers, ensuring compliance with aerospace standards, and driving program schedules, budgets, and quality objectives for a portfolio of programs.
Location: Huntsville, AL Hybrid: 3 days on‑site at our Huntsville site, 2 days remote.
Responsibilities
Lead and manage all aspects of programs at various stages of the PLM process, driving programs from concept and qualification (Gates 2‑5) through production and sunset (Gates 5‑7) and delivering the agreed budget.
Develop detailed program plans, schedules, budgets, and resource allocations, monitor progress, and implement corrective actions as needed.
Collaborate and drive engineering, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, R&D, and procurement teams to ensure seamless program execution.
Maintain customer communications from gate 2 through gate 7, negotiate technical changes, and support commercial teams at gates 0‑1 and contract items throughout the PLM.
Examples for New Product Introduction (NPI) Efforts and Sustaining Production Support:
Ensure completion/updates of product design, tooling, EMD/LRIP/FRP product and process documentation (BOO/BOMs), etc.
Manage ancillary program activities such as NRE efforts, touching all aspects of the value stream, and provide a development part forecast to S&OP Demand teams.
Support the technical and financial review for program activities and proposal generation.
Develop and build project budgets and acquire funding approval for capital funds required.
Drive process improvements and best practices in program management and aerospace transparency manufacturing.
Identify program risks and develop mitigation strategies to put program(s) back to the agreed schedule, cost, and quality.
Ensure all aerospace transparencies comply with relevant customer requirements, industry standards (e.g., FAA, EASA, MIL‑STD) and internal quality requirements.
Prepare and present regular program status reports, including financial performance, schedule adherence, and risk assessments to senior management.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or greater in an engineering field is required.
Aerospace specific industry experience is preferred.
Minimum of five (5) years of program management or engineering experience in aerospace or defense industries, with specific experience in transparencies or related components.
Strong knowledge of aerospace transparency materials (e.g., acrylics, polycarbonates, glass), manufacturing processes, and testing methods.
PMP (Project Management Professional) certification
strongly preferred.
