The Aerospace Transparencies Program Manager is responsible for overseeing the program lifecycle management (PLM) from concept through development into sustainable production and into sunset of aerospace transparencies for fixed wing aircraft and rotorcraft applications (military and commercial). This role involves managing cross-functional teams, coordinating with suppliers and customers, ensuring compliance with aerospace standards, and driving program schedules, budgets, and quality objectives to successful completion for a portfolio of programs. This is a Hybrid role working on-site at our Huntsville, AL site 3 days a week and remotely 2 days a week. You will report directly to the Global Program Director, Transparencies. Responsibilities
Program Management:
Lead and manage all aspects of programs at various stages of the PLM process. Drive programs from concept and qualification (Gates 2-5) through production and sunset (Gates 5-7) ensuring alignment with customer requirements and company goals. Empowered to be strategic and tactical with an objective to deliver the agreed upon program(s) budget. Project Planning:
Develop detailed program plans, schedules, budgets, and resource allocations. Monitor progress and implement corrective actions as needed. Lead and run program(s) gates with overarching authority to approve or fail gates. Cross-Functional Coordination:
Collaborates and drives engineering, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, R&D and procurement teams to ensure seamless program execution. Responsible for constructing integrated project teams (IPT) as required. Customer Interface:
Maintain customer communications in all programmatic aspects from gate 2 through gate 7. Collaborate with stakeholders to gain support for program execution. Has the authority to negotiate technical changes with the customer(s). Supports the commercial teams at gates 0 -1 and on contract related items throughout the PLM of a program. Examples for New Product Introduction (NPI) Efforts and Sustaining Production Support:
Ensures completion/updates of product design, tooling, EMD/LRIP/FRP product and process documentation (BOO/BOMs), etc. Manages ancillary program activities such as NRE efforts, etc., touching all aspects of the value stream. Provides a development part forecast to S&OP Demand teams. Support the technical and financial review for program activities as well as supporting proposal generation. Develops and builds project budgets and acquires funding approval for capital funds required.
Continuous Improvement:
Drive process improvements and best practices in program management and aerospace transparency manufacturing. Risk Management:
Identify program risks and develop mitigation strategies to put program(s) back to agreed upon schedule, cost, and quality. Compliance and Quality:
Ensure all aerospace transparencies comply with relevant customer requirements, industry standards (e.g., FAA, EASA, MIL-STD) and internal quality requirements. Reporting:
Prepare and present regular program status reports, including financial performance, schedule adherence, and risk assessments to senior management. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or greater in engineering field is required. Aerospace specific industry experience is preferred. Minimum of Five (5) years of program management or engineering experience in aerospace or defense industries, with specific experience in transparencies or related components. Strong knowledge of aerospace transparency materials (e.g., acrylics, polycarbonates, glass), manufacturing processes, and testing methods. PMP (Project Management Professional) certification strongly preferred Only U.S. Citizens, Green Card holders, and political asylees or refugees are eligible to apply Travel 10% - may include international travel.
