Job description:

Second Shift Maintenance Mechanic The second shift Maintenance Mechanic ensures the manufacturing equipment runs safely and efficiently by performing preventative and corrective maintenance on various production machinery, including Tablet presses, Encapsulators, Coating Machines, Blenders, as well as packaging equipment such as Fillers, Labelers, etc. Specifically, this job involves troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems, maintaining detailed equipment logs, complying with safety regulations like OSHA and cGMP, and collaborating with production and quality assurance teams to support overall operations and implement process improvements.

Essential Responsibilities

Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM) and timely repairs on production and packaging equipment, i.e., Blenders, Encapsulators, Coating Machines, Tablet presses, Fillers, Labelers, etc.

Diagnose and resolve issues in mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems to minimize equipment downtime and maintain production output.

Maintain detailed equipment maintenance logs and other required documentation in accordance with SOPs and cGMP guidelines.

Actively and proactively comply with all safety protocols, practices and procedures, maintain clean and organized maintenance areas, and ensure the facility is in safe, operational condition according to local, state, federal rules and regulatory standards and laws.

Interface and collaborate with Production, Quality Assurance, and other teams to address and resolve equipment malfunctions, improve systems efficiency, and support manufacturing operations.

Identify and recommend opportunities to improve system reliability, safety, and performance, as well as support continuous improvement initiatives.

Assist with equipment setup, changeovers, and participate in equipment calibrations and validation activities as needed.

General facilities maintenance & construction: Painting, Electrical, Plumbing, Lighting, Minor installations and construction.

Skills & Qualifications

Proficiency in mechanical repair, electrical systems, and troubleshooting.

Working knowledge and understanding of local, state, federal cGMP and safety rules, regulations and laws as they pertain to nutraceutical manufacturing.

Strong ability to identify root causes of issues and implement effective solutions.

Strong commitment to quality standards and thorough completion of tasks.

Ability to effectively communicate with operators, management, and other team members.

Strong ability to find safe, creative and innovative ways to maintain and operate the equipment to maximize productivity and efficiency.

Strong ethics and integrity.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent is typically required; an associate's degree or vocational certification in a related field is often preferred.

Physical Requirements

Able to stand for extended periods on various surfaces i.e., tile, asphalt, concrete, laminate.

Able to repetitively bend / twist, crouch, squat and stoop.

Able to reach and / or extend upper extremities upward / downward / sideways.

Able to move / lift / carry to 35 lbs.

Able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (face mask / hair / beard net / gloves / lab coat / safety shoes).

Able to be exposed to continuous noise up to Cal Osha 90DBA.

Manual Dexterity.

Hand-Eye Coordination.
