This role will be responsible for identifying, evaluating, and managing suppliers for critical materials, components, and services used in the development and production of advanced medical devices. The ideal candidate is a confident negotiator, skilled communicator, and strategic thinker who thrives on building strong supplier partnerships while driving cost, quality, and delivery performance. Duties & Responsibilities Develop and execute global sourcing strategies for key direct materials (e.g., laser components, optics, electronics, machined parts, software-enabled systems). Identify, evaluate, and qualify suppliers that meet technical, regulatory, and cost requirements. Lead contract negotiations, including pricing, lead times, payment terms, and service level agreements. Partner with R&D and NPI teams early in the design cycle to source innovative technologies and support design-for-manufacturability (DFM) efforts. Manage and optimize a global supplier base, ensuring performance metrics (OTD, quality, cost, risk) are met. Drive supplier development programs to increase value, reduce risk, and improve delivery performance. Conduct regular business reviews with critical suppliers to assess KPIs and continuous improvement opportunities. Perform cost analyses and benchmarking to support should-cost models and drive cost-reduction initiatives. Identify opportunities for consolidation, dual-sourcing, or localization to mitigate risk and reduce total cost of ownership. Collaborate with finance and operations to track savings and ensure budget alignment. Ensure all sourcing activities comply with FDA regulations, ISO 13485, MDSAP, and other applicable global standards. Assess and mitigate supply chain risks, including geopolitical, quality, and single-source dependencies. Support internal and external audits related to supplier controls and purchasing processes. Serve as the sourcing lead on cross-functional product development and change control teams. Work closely with quality, regulatory, legal, and operations teams to ensure all supplier documentation and validation activities are in place. Partner with logistics and planning teams to ensure accurate forecasting and supply continuity. Other duties as needed or required. Qualifications Minimum Requirements & Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or related field (MBA or APICS/ISM certification a plus). 7+ years of sourcing experience in the medical device industry, preferably in capital equipment or aesthetic laser systems. Strong knowledge of FDA QSR, ISO 13485, RoHS, REACH, and global regulatory requirements. Demonstrated success in supplier negotiations, contract management, and cost reduction. Experience sourcing technical components such as laser optics, electro-mechanical assemblies, PCBs, RF systems, and cooling systems. Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and sourcing tools. Strong analytical, communication, and project management skills. Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with suppliers in Asia (China, Taiwan, Korea) and Europe, including supplier qualification and audit practices. Knowledge of aesthetic medical technology trends, such as IPL, RF, diode lasers, and energy-based devices. Familiarity with design for sourcing/manufacturing and early supplier involvement (ESI) in NPD processes. Lean / Six Sigma or other continuous improvement certifications.
