Field Service Technician (100% Travel)

Dematic . Dematic Corporation is hiring a Regional Field Service Technician. Under the direction of the Field Service Manager, this position provides service and repair and service and maintenance training for installed Dematic systems and equipment. As the Dematic representative in the customer’s facility, this role is responsible for maintaining customer goodwill toward Dematic. The primary objective is to ensure that Dematic systems have the greatest availability possible for customer use and that customers are satisfied with their Dematic system and equipment. This role can be based anywhere throughout North America, preferably near an airport for travel. Overtime and occasional weekend work may be required. This role will be 100% travel. Participates in semi-complex equipment trial runs, investigative tests, repairs, and overhauls. Participates in training customers on semi-complex products and services. Performs semi-complex maintenance on tools, test equipment, etc., and maintains documents of all inspections, maintenance and repair work, and failures. Responds to semi-complex service calls. Assesses the performance of semi-complex products/equipment based on field support data and recommends modifications or improvements. Performs semi-complex work within the technical or paraprofessional areas. Identifies problems as they occur and takes appropriate steps to solve them in situations where the problem is not difficult or complex. Refers to complex, unusual problems for others. What We Are Looking For
Trade school graduate or two-year Associate’s degree in a mechanical, electrical, or mechanical technician program. Bachelor's degree in engineering preferred. Two years (minimum) experience in troubleshooting electromechanical and/or mechanical equipment. Some work experience with material handling equipment. Service experience with Automatic Guided Vehicles (AGV), Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems (AS/RS), or conveyors is highly prized. Willingness to travel on short notice and spend more than 80% of the time traveling; may be away from home for up to a month (travel expenses provided). Willingness to be available during off hours and travel accordingly. Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and off shifts. Ability to act calmly in stressful situations. Ability to write concise, clear, and complete trip reports within required timeframes according to Dematic procedures. Knowledge of using personal computers for word processing, database functions, and communications; understanding PC hardware setup and software configuration is required. Working experience with troubleshooting Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) is required. Employment Details
