Overview
The Town of Hilton Head Island is seeking a dynamic and experienced
Building Official
to direct operations of the Building Division, ensuring compliance, interpretation and enforcement of all local, state, and federal building, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, energy, fire, ADA and residential codes. What You Will Do Serve as the Building Official; direct and oversee researching, drafting, maintaining and interpreting building and related codes; Supervise and establish work priorities, delegate and assign work, provide guidance on code issues for plan reviews and field inspectors to ensure code compliance; Communicate with contractors, sub-contractors, developers, architects, engineers, and citizens concerning construction requirements; communicate with State, Local and Federal agencies; Ensure that all local, state, and federal construction codes are administered in a timely and consistent manner; review and interpret adopted codes; Develop Division goals and objectives; Set objectives for code compliance, staff development, and efficient and courteous service delivery; Conduct comprehensive reviews of commercial and residential plans to ensure code compliance, as needed. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree and seven (7) years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. International Code Council (ICC) Building Official; Valid Driver’s license.
