Associate Director of Fraternity & Sorority Life

Department: Fraternity & Sorority Life (12086355) • Employee Designation: Regular Full-time (Benefits Eligible)
Summary: The Associate Director for Fraternity & Sorority Life serves as the second-in-command for the Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life, overseeing daily operations for a community of 35 organizations and nearly 10,000 members. The role provides staff supervision and acts as a key liaison to campus partners to advance a values-based Greek community.
Responsibilities
Office & Staff Leadership: support the Director in advancing strategic priorities, oversee office operations, and execute the vision for Fraternity & Sorority Life.
Supervise, train, and evaluate 3 Assistant Directors who oversee graduate assistants; lead internal staff meetings and staff development.
Council & Chapter Oversight: oversee advising structure for governing councils and chapters; act as secondary advisor for student leadership, conduct issues, and crisis response.
Programming & Events: assist in planning and executing community-wide events (recruitment/intake, large-scale events, leadership retreats).
Liaison to Student Organizations & Conduct Offices: coordinate with Office of Conflict Resolution and Student Conduct; provide guidance on community standards, conduct expectations, and conflict resolution.
Leadership Development & Mediation: support leadership development, mediation agreements, and conflict resolution with restorative practices where applicable.
Compliance & Data Reporting: collect, analyze, and report data related to conduct, hazing, and risk management; ensure Clery Act and related compliance; prepare regular reports for university leadership.
Budget & Resource Oversight: assist in managing office and council budgets; oversee financial management within student councils and chapters.
Stakeholder Engagement: collaborate with departments across campus (Student Conduct, Title IX, Housing, Counseling, General Counsel) and assist in crisis management and post-incident support.
Harm Reduction Education: develop and deliver hazing prevention, alcohol/drug education, event management, and mental health awareness programs; promote accountability, safety, and belonging.
Essential Functions
Plan and execute student programs and services; evaluate and promote program strategies; contribute to the design of programming resources.
Monitor the program budget and approve expenditures; supervise day-to-day activities of unit staff and resolve routine personnel issues.
Minimum Education/Experience
Education:
Bachelor's Degree
Experience:
3 years including supervisory experience
Preferred Qualifications
Master's Degree in Higher Education Administration, College Student Personnel or related field
5 years of professional fraternity and sorority advising experience
Strong knowledge of fraternity and sorority life systems, student conduct processes, and risk management
Experience with mediation, conflict resolution, and restorative practices in a higher education setting
Commitment to student development; demonstrated leadership, supervision, and crisis management skills
