RN Charge Nurse ICU role at Intermountain Health. This role provides leadership and clinical expertise on the shift and department, coordinating unit resources to ensure appropriate staffing levels and functioning as clinical support for staff. Base pay range

$42.00/hr - $60.00/hr Essential Functions

Performs appropriate assessment of physical, social, and psychological status (including cognitive, communicative and developmental skills as appropriate). Seeks and evaluates information from interdisciplinary team: patient, family, physician, non-nursing disciplines, support staff, others. Uses assessment information and critical thinking to collaboratively develop individualized plan of care, engaging patient, family, team, and physician in education and planning. Collaboratively plans and prepares patients for further support needs once outcomes are met (teaching, referrals, follow-up). Directs the interdisciplinary care team via delegation, coordination, and collaboration. Provides or delegates care consistent with plan of care and professional licensure provisions. Sets priorities and coordinates delivery of care by managing time, supplies, and resources. Evaluates patient response to interventions and revises the plan of care as indicated. Models professional behavior and coaches/develops others to maintain nursing professionalism and accountability. Follows legal and ethical standards, adheres to regulatory standards, documents accurately and timely, and understands legal implications of care delivery. Estimates staffing needs for current and next shift to deliver optimal patient care and matches nurse skill levels to patient requirements. Manages premium pay and overtime for cost-effectiveness and allocates resources appropriately. Provides operational and clinical leadership of the unit, sets expectations, and holds staff accountable for outcomes. Mediates conflicts among staff, families, physicians, and other departments. Sets clear expectations for hourly rounds, communication boards, and joint bedside report. Guides problem resolution and promotes accountability and professional growth. Supports and enforces Intermountain and unit policies to ensure safety, quality, compliance, and patient care. Activates chain of command, rapid response, or code alerts when appropriate to ensure safety. Participates in continuous quality improvement in clinical care, service experience, and operational effectiveness. Required to complete Charge Nurse training. Skills

Assessment Planning Implementation Evaluation Collaboration Leadership Communication Minimum Qualifications

Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in state of practice. Valid compact licenses must be transferred to the state of practice within 60 days of the start of employment. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers. Unit Specific Certification as required (ACLS, PALS, etc.). Experience in assigned clinical area. Mentoring experience. Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution (degree will be verified). RNs hired or promoted into this role must obtain their BSN within four years of hire or promotion; if an education agreement exists, that agreement takes precedence. Preferred Qualifications

One year of clinical nursing experience. Physical Requirements

Ongoing ability to see and read information, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies. Frequent communication with patients, families, and staff; ability to hear and respond quickly, especially during emergencies. Manual dexterity for handling equipment and documentation tasks. Ability to lift and transfer patients and handle supplies and equipment of varying weights. Location
