Overview
The California Children's Services (CCS) section of the Department of Public Health (DPH) is seeking Occupational and Physical Therapists. Therapists will plan, implement, and conduct individual therapy programs for the physical rehabilitation of children. Duties include team-centered care with consulting with various professional agencies; plan and implement therapy programs for children with neurological and/or orthopedic impairments after analysis of a child's medical history under direction of a physician; evaluate patients' progress and develop treatment changes; administer tests to determine functional ability, physical limitations, rehabilitation potential, and equipment needs; determine durable medical equipment needs and provide instruction regarding appropriate usage; plan and provide instruction on home and classroom programs and durable medical equipment to parents and teachers; and plan and direct group activities.

Assignment location for Pediatric Rehabilitation Therapists exists throughout San Bernardino County. Immediate vacancies exist within Colton, Fontana, and Hesperia. Responsibilities

Evaluate patients’ progress and develop treatment changes. Administer tests to determine functional ability, physical limitations, rehabilitation potential, and equipment needs. Determine durable medical equipment needs and provide instruction on appropriate usage. Plan and provide instruction on home and classroom programs and durable medical equipment to parents and teachers. Plan and direct group activities.
Qualifications
Possess and maintain a valid license as a Physical Therapist issued by the Physical Therapy Board of California (PTBC) or as an Occupational Therapist issued by the California Board of Occupational Therapy (BOT). The ideal candidate will have one or more years of full-time equivalent experience as a licensed Physical or Occupational Therapist. Applicants fluent in American Sign Language, Arabic, Korean, Mandarin, Spanish and/or Vietnamese are strongly encouraged to apply. Additional compensation is associated with bilingual skills. Testing of bilingual skills may be required to receive additional compensation.
Requirements and Conditions
Full and part-time positions available; part-time may be less than 80 hours per two-week pay period. May be required to lift or assist in lifting children over 50 pounds. Pre-employment background investigation, fingerprinting, physical exam, and drug screening required. Visa sponsorship: San Bernardino County cannot consider candidates who require visa sponsorship at application or in the future. Must have legal right to work in the United States at time of employment. Travel throughout the County may be required. Applicants must meet one of the following licensure options: Option 1: Physical Therapist licensed by the PTBC; OR Option 2: Occupational Therapist licensed by the BOT.
