Overview
Occupational Therapist, Per Diem - ARU/Acute/Burns at UCSF Health. This is an inpatient position within Saint Francis and St. Mary’s Hospitals Rehabilitation Services Department. The Per Diem Occupational Therapist reports to the Clinical Supervisor and provides both direct and indirect patient care services. The role primarily serves adult and geriatric patients from diverse backgrounds; pediatric competencies and clinical experience may allow work with infants, children and/or adolescents. Per Diem staff may supervise Rehabilitation Aides as well as Occupational Therapist students and clinical fellows. The compensation and benefits are as described in the posting, including a $5,000 sign-on bonus for qualified Per Diem Occupational Therapists with acute care experience.
Responsibilities
Plan and administer a full range of occupational therapy services for patients with physical and cognitive impairments and disabilities, following written referrals from licensed, approved providers. Conduct patient evaluations using physical, cognitive and visual/perceptual tests and measurements; establish therapeutic intervention goals and develop intervention programs; implement therapy plans using occupational therapy techniques. Maintain all applicable patient records related to delivery of patient care services. Supervise support personnel, including Rehabilitation Aides and Occupational Therapist students or clinical fellows, as applicable. Participate in compliance, quality, safety and process improvement initiatives within the department and hospital. Meet the minimum work requirement of two weekend day shifts per month, and one major and one minor Winter UC Holiday (e.g., Thanksgiving/Day After, Dec 24/25, Dec 31/Jan 1). Qualifications
Required Qualifications MS or MA degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy program. Minimum one year of licensed practice experience. Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing. Ability to recognize signs of distress. Basic computer skills including work within Epic electronic medical record. Good interpersonal, time management, problem solving and self-initiation skills. Flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations. Preferred Qualifications Prior experience providing patient care in acute care hospital and acute rehab/IRF patient care settings. License/Certification Possession of or proven eligibility for licensure as an Occupational Therapist by the California Board of Occupational Therapy. AHA BLS certification or proven eligibility.
