Walgreens The role involves day-to-day non-clinical pharmacy operations and administrative activities where state and federal laws/regulations allow. The position is a full-time certified pharmacy technician who aims to ensure efficient pharmacy workflow and a positive patient experience. Responsibilities
Accountable for day-to-day non-clinical pharmacy operations and administrative activities (where allowed by law); ensure efficient pharmacy workflow and a positive patient experience; serve as a full-time certified pharmacy technician. Operate pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions. Under the supervision of a pharmacist, supervise pharmacy technicians and pharmacy cashiers within authorized company policies, laws, regulations, and business ethics. Select, schedule, and develop pharmacy technician personnel. Lead training, coaching, and performance management of pharmacy technicians. Make decisions regarding performance management including discipline and termination. Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services. Resolve customer complaints and respond to non-clinical inquiries to ensure a positive customer experience. Model and share customer service best practices. Develop strong relationships with customers by anticipating needs and proactively offering services to improve the pharmacy experience; enhance focus on healthcare services. Assist pharmacist in delivering patient care including patient registration, prescription data entry, preparation of medications, counting, and verification where allowed by law; complete patient and physician calls; assist with healthcare service offerings including vaccines and health screenings where allowed by law. Delegate, direct, and assign non-clinical work in the pharmacy within policy and legal guidelines; ensure on-time task completion and accountability for workflow. Prepare and file reports and records required by the company and government agencies under the direction of the Pharmacy Manager or pharmacist. Manage core pharmacy workflow, daily scheduling, and inventory; ensure the pharmacy is clean, organized, and stocked with supplies; coordinate hours and changes as needed. Maintain compliance and execute business administrative activities and non-licensure pharmacy tasks; manage annual inventory preparation. Drive new technology/process rollout, champion change, and engage the team in action planning; ensure proper operation of pharmacy department equipment and maintain security safeguards. Adhere to Good Faith Dispensing policies during all applicable prescription-dispensing activities and ensure elements of Good Faith Dispensing are met. Support asset protection efforts and diversion monitoring; report concerns that could compromise pharmacy security. Communicate prescription errors to the accountable pharmacist and adhere to company policies regarding errors and the Continuous Quality Improvement Program. Ensure accurate insurance claim processing to resolve customer issues and prevent rejections; follow up with insurers and providers and participate in 3rd party audits as needed. Assist and support Store Manager and Pharmacy Manager in analyzing and improving pharmacy financials, operational quality, and customer service. Manage Community Outreach Portal; coordinate off-site immunization clinics and community events; build and sustain relationships with retail partnerships. People & Performance Management
Lead performance management of technicians, including discipline decisions; follow policy to discipline, suspend, terminate or recommend the same; ensure compliance with state and federal laws; hold technicians accountable for attendance and timeliness; drive engagement and action planning. Hire, on-board, train, and schedule technicians; monitor training completion and enforce scheduling/training policies. Identify knowledge gaps in pharmacy operations and support team members with training or learning modules. Monitor licensure, registrations, and certifications for all pharmacy staff; verify status using Walgreens resources. Ensure proper procedures for selection, recruitment, record retention, and training per company policy and laws. Training & Personal Development
Maintain PTCB certification and required state certifications/registrations; pursue ongoing pharmacy and healthcare knowledge. Obtain required certifications and training (e.g., LTMP modules) as required; participate in performance improvement plans as directed by Pharmacy Manager. Seek professional development through self-assessment, feedback, and mentorship from Healthcare Supervisor. Qualifications
High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent. PTCB or ExCPT certification (except in Puerto Rico). One year of work experience as a pharmacy technician in a retail or hospital setting. Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico). Flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends. Willingness to obtain active immunization certification within 90 days of hire (except in Community Specialty Pharmacy and Health System Pharmacy locations). Preferred Qualifications
Previous people management/leadership experience. Previous Walgreens experience with an Exceeding Expectation on last performance evaluation.
