Supplier Quality Engineer – Heavy Equipment Manufacturing The Supplier Quality Engineer plays a critical role in ensuring the quality and reliability of products sourced by Lanco’s Industrial Equipment Manufacturing (IEM) operations. This position manages supplier performance metrics, drives continuous improvement through corrective action processes, and leads audits to assess supplier capabilities. Collaboration with cross-functional teams and suppliers addresses quality issues, supports new product development, and implements technical improvements. A strong foundation in engineering principles, problem solving, and effective communication is required to promote consistency, compliance, and operational excellence across all IEM locations. Responsibilities

Develop, manage, and report supplier quality metrics (KPIs) to monitor supplier performance; use data-driven analysis to identify trends and drive improvement. Lead the issuance and resolution of Supplier Corrective Action Reports (SCARs); conduct root cause analyses, define containment plans, and implement interim and permanent corrective actions. Perform root cause analysis and problem solving using tools such as 5 Whys, Fishbone Diagrams, and FMEA; validate solutions through follow-up audits and performance tracking. Plan and execute supplier audits and evaluations to ensure compliance with sourcing standards and quality system requirements; assess capabilities in machining, welding, casting, and assembly. Collaborate with engineering and suppliers during product design to ensure specifications are achievable and optimized for manufacturability, quality, and cost-effectiveness. Independently lead at least one annual supplier quality improvement project using Six Sigma, Lean, or similar methodologies; present findings to cross-functional leadership. Provide supplier quality support across all IEM sites; prioritize workload based on urgency and production schedules. Serve as a liaison between suppliers and internal departments (Engineering, Purchasing, Production) to raise awareness of supplier quality issues and coordinate resources. Ensure supplier processes align with regulatory requirements and internal policies, including ISO 9001; promote environmental responsibility and safe working practices within the supply chain. Share lessons learned and standardize processes within the IEM Quality Team to support continuous alignment across facilities. Qualifications

Self-motivated and analytical; able to work independently while collaborating across teams. Experience in supplier quality management, including audits, corrective actions, and KPI-based performance tracking. Strong skills in root cause analysis, quality systems (ISO 9001), and interpreting technical drawings with GD&T. Knowledge of machining, welding, and assembly; ability to assess and improve supplier capabilities. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and familiar with ERP systems for quality documentation and data analysis. Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, engineering technology, or related field. 3–5 years of applicable work experience. Understanding of ISO 9001 auditing; Six Sigma training/certification preferred. Physical and Travel Requirements

Mainly office-based with moderate noise levels; may require travel to offsite environments. Travel required: high level (>50%) domestic and international. Compensation & Benefits
