Power Plant Operator (2nd Class Fireman) role at GE Aerospace. This position involves operating and maintaining boilers and related plant equipment to support the facility’s power generation and operations. Essential Responsibilities

Operate all boilers and boiler auxiliaries and related equipment to support the facility’s power plant operations. Determine boiler load and load distribution; monitor and adjust operating conditions, boiler pressure, steam temperature, water levels, and auxiliary equipment. Report operating conditions to and operate under the direction of the Power Plant Engineer; communicate with other operators as needed. Take required action in emergencies, report unsafe conditions, keep the work area clean, and maintain proper safety procedures. Monitor alarm panels and respond to alarms or notify appropriate personnel. Conduct tests on water and determine characteristics such as sulfate, alkalinity, phosphate, solids and oxygen; prepare and record data and make corrections to water conditions. Perform water treatment maintenance and related duties to ensure proper plant operation. Comply with all state regulations regarding boiler and turbine operation and keep state records/logs as required. Maintain company records and logs related to power plant operation and maintenance requests. Demonstrate knowledge of all power plant systems (steam, water, condensate, surge tanks, compressed air, etc.). Wear proper PPE and communicate with Power Plant Operators and Engineers; perform other duties as required. Rotating shift; 4/10 hour days with additional weekly overtime available; sign-on bonus opportunity. Qualifications/Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent (GED). Commonwealth of Massachusetts 2nd Class Fireman’s license. Eligibility Requirements

Wear proper PPE for work; ability and willingness to work rotating shifts. Willingness to work in areas with elevated heat and noise. Ability to lift and move fixtures and component hardware up to 40 lbs. (with or without reasonable accommodations). Ability to work in confined spaces, climb ladders, and work at heights. Desired Characteristics

Experience as an operating engineer; experience with oil and gas fired high-pressure boilers and related equipment. Experience with computers and applications; knowledge of safety rules in an industrial setting. Ability to troubleshoot problems. Additional Information
