The Production Manager will be responsible for overseeing the Chicopee location’s production processes to ensure all safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives are achieved. The role focuses on continuously improving organizational production processes and building a high‑performing team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Manage all resources to promote teamwork, respect, accountability, and continuous improvement across Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost objectives.

Ensure compliance with all EHS standards, leading initiatives with the EHS Site Lead to exceed EHS objectives.

Drive Quality standards, collaborating with Quality and Engineering Departments to exceed Quality objectives.

Align production goals with broader organizational objectives.

Respond to changing priorities and unexpected issues, guiding the team through transitions with clarity and confidence.

Plan and establish production and manufacturing priorities.

Utilize production data to monitor department loads, capacities, quantities, and delivery dates; adjust schedules for equipment failure or operating problems.

Ensure on‑time delivery to all internal and external customers.

Communicate monthly production requirements and coordinate with supporting departments to optimize resources, machines, and equipment.

Develop and implement strategies designed to correct operational problems and improve production throughput.

Develop long‑range production plans and capital improvements.

Recruit, interview, hire, and train new staff; provide constructive performance evaluations.

Oversee daily departmental workflow; collaborate with other manufacturing managers to set and assess cross‑team priorities.

Establish daily/weekly/monthly schedules and ensure timelines are achieved and communicated accordingly.

Monitor manpower and training plans to maintain area targets.

Establish a culture of Continuous Improvement to eliminate problems and reduce costs.

Ensure compliance with factory rules, regulations, and collective bargaining agreements; support progressive discipline and unite‑related issues.

Proactively identify opportunities for process improvement and cost savings.

Lead and mentor teams to achieve significant results and develop future leaders.

Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning.

Exhibit strong leadership, results orientation, and communication skills.

Maintain personal accountability and high ethical standards throughout all responsibilities.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.

10+ years of progressive experience in production or manufacturing management within a high‑volume, fast‑paced environment.

Proven track record of leading cross‑functional teams to meet production targets, improve efficiency, and maintain quality standards.

Experience developing and implementing production schedules, managing workflow, and optimizing resource allocation.

Demonstrated ability to analyze production metrics and drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methods.

Familiarity with compliance standards including OSHA and quality management systems (IATF, ISO).

Automotive Tier 1 experience highly desired.

History of mentoring and developing team members, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and performance.

Required experience working in a union plant.
