Report to a Deputy Director and supervise a staff of approximately 4–6 engineers and technicians who will design sewers, water mains, and roadways. Design of capital roadway, sewer, and water main projects; oversee the design of all ancillary work. Coordinate project development with interagency and private utility companies; review and produce final contract plans, estimates, and specifications; review consultant design drawings, studies, and reports; manage consultant design contracts. Generate updated comprehensive project reports and contract documents; coordinate utility services when needed; prepare and review CPM (Critical Path Method) design schedules; provide construction support as needed. Assist the Director and Deputy Director in preparing consultant task orders and specific contract requirements; participate in the technical consultant selection review committee. Qualifications
Four (4) years of full-time, satisfactory experience in civil engineering work; and A valid New York State Professional Engineer’s License (current NYS PE registration must be maintained for the duration of employment). A master's degree in civil engineering from an accredited college or university may be substituted for one year of the civil engineering experience described above. Special Note: to be eligible for placement in Assignment Levels II and III, at least one year within the last three years must be as a major contributor or project leader on a complex project requiring additional and specific expertise. Preferred Skills: strong supervisory experience; outstanding verbal and written communication; proficiency in Microsoft Office and AutoCAD; construction knowledge relevant to infrastructure projects (sewers, water mains, roadways); familiarity with NYC DOT/NYSDOT/NYC DEP specifications, MUTCD, and AASHTO standards; understanding of NYC infrastructure systems; proficiency in Primavera P6 scheduling and ENV SP credential (preferred); valid driver’s license (required). 55-a Program eligibility for placement consideration.
