Only candidates who are permanent in the Civil Engineer title, those who are reachable on DDC Promotional List (Exam #4522), or reachable on the Open-Competitive List (Exam #0156 or #4030) may apply. The NYC Department of Design and Construction, Division of Infrastructure, is currently seeking an Engineer-In-Charge to join our Design Unit - Section 5 – Consultant Design - Group 1. The successful candidate will report to a Deputy Director and will be responsible for the design of capital roadway, sewer, and water main projects and will supervise a staff of approximately 4 – 6 engineers and technicians, who will design sewers, water mains, and roadways.

Authorization to work in the United States is required for this position. Minimum Qualifications

Four (4) years of full-time, satisfactory experience in civil engineering work; and

A valid New York State Professional Engineer’s License. Current New York State registration as a Professional Engineer must be maintained for the duration of your employment.

A master’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited college or university, accredited by regional, national, professional or specialized agencies recognized as accrediting bodies by the U.S. Secretary of Education and by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) may be substituted for one year of the civil engineering experience required above.

Special Note

In addition to above qualification requirements, to be eligible for placement in Assignment Levels II and III, individuals must have at least one year within the last three years of experience as a major contributor or a project leader on a complex project requiring additional and specific expertise in the disciplines needed to design or construct the project.

Preferred Skills

Must have strong supervisory experience.

Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and AutoCAD.

Construction knowledge relevant to infrastructure projects (sewers, water mains, roadways).

Familiarity with NYC DOT, NYS DOT, NYC DEP specifications, MUTCD, and AASHTO standards.

Comprehensive understanding of the NYC infrastructure system and current engineering practices.

Proficiency in Primavera P6 scheduling and Envision Sustainability Professional (ENV SP) credential (Preferred).

Valid driver’s license (Required).

Personal vehicle (Optional).

Salary: $93,614.00 – $107,656.00
