Base Pay Range
$90,000.00/yr - $110,000.00/yr
Overview A U.S.-based manufacturer with multiple facilities across the country is looking to add a Packaging Engineer to its operations team. This role will play a key part in designing packaging solutions that are cost-effective, compliant, and logistically optimized. You’ll collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Supply Chain, and IT to ensure packaging design supports quality, regulatory, and sustainability goals.
Key Responsibilities
Design packaging using CAD software; ensure durability, efficiency, and compliance
Choose appropriate packaging materials based on performance, cost, and shipping conditions
Conduct tests (drop, vibration, temperature, etc.) to validate packaging integrity
Partner with Project Management and IT to interpret and implement customer labeling requirements
Analyze and reduce packaging waste, cost, and inefficiencies
Ensure regulatory and environmental compliance for all packaging solutions
Develop standard packaging procedures, manuals, and cost tracking systems
Support quality audits and packaging supplier performance
Oversee packaging return programs (pallets, reels, etc.) and report on reverse logistics performance
Qualifications
B.S. in Packaging Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field
Minimum 5 years of packaging design experience in an industrial or manufacturing setting
Familiarity with packaging compliance and regulations
Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
Experience with MRP/ERP systems (MFG/PRO a plus)
Willingness to travel occasionally
