Job Summary
Base pay range: $31.50/hr - $33.00/hr
Position: Welding Inspector (Visual inspection of welded joints in steel assemblies).
Qualifications
3–5 years welding heavy steel assemblies; part inspection experience.
Ability to read shop drawings and weld symbols.
Basic knowledge of ASME, AWS codes.
Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement techniques.
Strong attention to detail and communication skills.
Independent worker, follows directions.
Responsibilities
Perform visual inspection of welded joints on poles and heavy structural steel assemblies.
Ensure fabricated steel meets customer specifications and weld plans.
Prepare documentation for customer certification.
Conduct in-process inspections and monitor compliance with AISC and AWS codes.
Interpret drawings, specifications, and standards of moderate complexity.
Assist Quality Control Manager with AISC program administration and audits.
Collaborate with QA/QC inspectors to organize daily work.
Identify and solve quality non‑conformances timely.
Support continuous production flow and quality control program.
Measure of Performance
Quality, accuracy, thoroughness, reliability.
Safe projects on time and within budget.
Closed quality problems timely.
Customer satisfaction with project quality.
Up‑to‑date inspection records and notebooks.
Effective communication with management and employees.
Timely adherence to inspection deadlines.
Maintain confidentiality, ethical business conduct.
Consistent attendance and minimal absenteeism.
Educational Requirements High school diploma or equivalent.
Level II Certification in U.T. or M.T. documented successful completion and signed by accredited Level III instructor.
CWI using ASW D1.1 code.
Working Conditions
Manufacturing floor/shop and general office.
Occasional travel by automobile may be required.
Seasonal weather conditions.
Exposure to shop hazards.
Physical Demands Walking, sitting, standing significant degree; lift/carry up to 25 lbs; must pass drug‑screening test.
Continuing Education Requirements Employee expected to participate in appropriate continuing education as may be requested and/or required by supervisor; attend mandatory education programs.
