Overview
The Lead HVAC Mechanic is responsible for carrying out all the duties and responsibilities of an HVAC mechanic at the Master level.
Responsibilities
Oversees a staff of HVAC personnel and assists with refrigeration and AC compressor replacement, troubleshooting A/C systems, maintenance and repairs related to HVAC equipment.
Responsible for execution, planning, scheduling, ordering parts and inspection of work that is performed on all Pneumatic and DC Controls, Refrigeration and HVAC equipment outlined in the statement of work.
Install, maintain, repair, adjust and clean all HVAC and associated equipment and systems.
Must be well versed in the use of many and varied types of test equipment such as volt-meters, ammeters, amprobes, psychrometers, capacitor analyzer temperature testers, leak detectors, micrometer, CO2 testers, vacuum gauges, megohms and must possess outstanding eye-hand coordination.
Inspects completed work for conformance to standards.
Possess excellent organizational and troubleshooting skills.
Keep daily logs and records of all maintenance functions.
Diagnose electrical and mechanical faults with HVAC systems.
Other duties as assigned.
Experience, Education, and Licensure
Must have a minimum of six (6) years' experience working in large Commercial Facilities/Operation and Maintenance Arena.
A Master HVAC License is required.
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
Active Secret or Top Secret clearance preferred.
Maximo CMMS Experience a plus, but not required.
Microsoft Computer skills (Office, Word, Outlook etc.) a plus but not required.
Thorough knowledge of the operation, maintenance, and repair of all HVAC systems and equipment in the building.

General supervision / Exercise independent judgment in accordance with well-established policies, procedures, and techniques.

Physical Requirements The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This position requires the ability to maneuver around the building site; see, hear and verbally communicate with co-workers and clients. Requires physical conditioning adequate for sitting, walking or standing, lifting, pushing, pulling, twisting, throwing, reaching, squatting, stretching, bending for prolonged periods of time; may lift and carry up to 60 pounds; near visual acuity to review written documentation; ability to hear and understand speech with background noise. May climb ladders and scaffolding, do a lot of walking, use every kind of hand tool, work in hazardous positions, carry heavy tools.

Work Authorization / Security Clearance DoD Secret or higher security clearance, or the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance. U.S. Citizenship is required.
Additional Qualifying Factors Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance. In addition, a satisfactory background screening, negative drug test, positive references and proof of identity and legal authorization to work in the United States are required.
