Join to apply for the Senior Mechanical Engineer, R&D - NPD role at Stryker. This role is in the Research and Development (R&D) team, focused on patient-impact medical technology. You will work at the intersection of advanced medical technology, solving complex challenges, collaborating across disciplines, and growing your career in a high-impact environment. Note: You will need to live within commuting distance to the Portage, Michigan office and be in the office four days a week (Monday-Thursday) with the option to work from home on other days. What You Will Do
Design, develop, and verify components and modules for medical devices under minimal supervision. Translate design inputs into engineering specifications and subsystem-level designs. Prototype and analyze design solutions to validate concepts and performance. Identify and resolve complex technical challenges using data-driven analysis to improve processes and outcomes. Create and maintain engineering documentation, including Design History Files, in compliance with regulatory standards. Ensure alignment with quality management systems and applicable regulations. Collaborate cross-functionally with R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, Regulatory, and Marketing to ensure project success. Prioritize tasks and manage workload independently to meet project milestones. Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Biomedical, or related field). Minimum 2 years of relevant engineering experience. Proficiency in creating engineering drawings and models using CAD tools. Working knowledge of mechanical design principles and manufacturing processes. Preferred Qualifications
Experience in the medical device industry or regulated environments. Familiarity with design controls, risk management, and regulatory compliance. Understanding of clinical procedures and product use. Experience applying Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and using CAE tools. Benefits
