Overview
The Production Planner is responsible for accurately and efficiently creating a production schedule to maximize production capabilities and fulfill customer orders. This role supports the company’s priorities of Safety, People, Quality, Service and Cost Management across operations.
Responsibilities
Prepare and distribute weekly production schedule.
Manage and communicate schedule changes as the business demands.
Create system jobs to meet production schedule requirements.
Monitor outstanding raw material receivers.
Conduct physical inventory of raw materials and monitor min/max inventory levels.
Participate in the semi-annual inventory process.
Monitor production jobs and ensure closure of jobs in a timely manner.
Communicate operating information and concerns to personnel in all departments and on all shifts.
Perform other tasks identified by the team to ensure that the team’s goals are achieved.
Qualifications
Minimum of 2 years production planning experience.
Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite, primarily Outlook and Excel.
Experience in using an ERP system.
Experience in using a MRP system.
Strong math and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work a flexible schedule (including some weekend/holiday responsibilities).
Excellent prioritizing, organizing and decision-making skills.
College degree or equivalent experience.
Self-motivated, positive, proactive, and dependable.
Ability to work as a team member to achieve common goals with a sense of urgency.
Understanding of manufacturing operations and processes.
Flexibility to cope with a constantly changing manufacturing environment.
Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and suppliers.
Understanding of safety principles.
Ability to understand and troubleshoot issues.
Proficiency in English (speaking, reading and writing).
Knowledge of Food Safety, Food Quality, Food Defense, and/or GMP Programs is desirable.
