Mechanical Design Engineer I

Come be a part of the growing logistics market and join a small design team that applies its expertise and knowledge to technical projects, finding innovative, cost-effective means to improve products, techniques, procedures, and technologies. In this position you will design and develop new ideas, solutions for new product development, current product modifications, and improvements based on in-service issues/market strategy. You are responsible for the design and implementation of mechanical parts, subassemblies, and product improvements. Focus on the design and implementation of material handling equipment in a wide variety of market spaces including conveyance, sortation, robotics, and automation. You will collaborate with customers, quality, and manufacturing departments to ensure equipment is being produced to your and our specifications.
Responsibilities
Technical documentation support
Drawing creation and maintenance
Component and system analysis (hand and FEA)
Engineering assistance to end users and manufacturing teams
Write specifications on internal designs
Cost estimation of new and existing parts, assemblies, and products
Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as electrical and controls engineers
Document research on new and existing design improvements
Lead and participate in engineering design reviews
Qualifications YOU MUST HAVE
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering, or mathematics
Experience with 3D modeling of individual parts and simple/complex assemblies
Experience with part and assembly definition, design, and support

Strong industrial design capabilities
Solidworks preferred
Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Experience collaborating across cross-functional teams
Enthusiastic about learning and adopting new technologies
Open, honest, and team-oriented mindset
Hands-on approach with a strong willingness to engage directly in work
Creative problem-solving skills, especially in ambiguous situations
Background in product development and/or sustaining engineering
Experience working in safety-critical environments
Familiarity with Six Sigma, DFMEA, quality reviews, and related methodologies
Knowledge of conveyor systems used in distribution and fulfillment centers
