Responsibilities
Under the review and direction of Project Manager, perform field inspection and oversight of construction activities Maintain daily reports of inspection work along with detailed records of project progress Read and interpret plans, specifications, and applicable standards Review contract documents to verify compliance with governmental regulations and conformance with project requirements Assist with coordinating materials sampling and testing and verify sufficient testing has been performed Verify accuracy of payment requests and invoicing for completed work Experience with NCDOT construction inspection and procedures Coordinate with contractors’ staff and effectively communicate with all parties Perform standard mathematical calculations Willing to work day or night shifts and/or flexible schedules as required to support project requirements Accept assignments requiring extended travel to project, attend preconstruction and project progress meetings, etc. Perform other tasks as assigned to help accomplish the Company’s strategic goals What You Bring to SAM
High School Diploma or GED Minimum of 6 years of experience in Construction Engineering & Inspection (CEI) for transportation projects; direct field experience as a Contractor or materials-testing technician can substitute on a case-by-case basis Familiarity with Share-Plus software and use of an iPad is preferred Experience with Primavera and Microsoft Outlook and other scheduling software is preferred, but not required Functional computer skills including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel Ability to complete inspector certification courses (examples include NCDOT classes in hot-mix asphalt and ACI concrete sampling and testing) Highly motivated and works well with minimal supervision Thorough knowledge of NCDOT specifications and standards with willingness to study and advance relevant knowledge Certifications and/or Licensing Requirements
Field testing certifications through NCDOT and/or ACI are preferred, but not required Our Perks
