Overview

Are you looking for an opportunity to work with cutting-edge thin film processing equipment? We support advanced PVD (physical vapor deposition) systems used in the manufacturing of next-generation hard disk drives and memory devices. We are currently seeking an experienced Field Service Technician to provide on-site support for vacuum-based semiconductor equipment. This role involves installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair activities directly at customer locations. This is a customer-facing, field-based position that requires full-time on-site presence and may involve off-shift work. Initial training will be conducted in Japan over a period of 3 to 6 months. Key Responsibilities

Install, calibrate, maintain, and repair high-vacuum PVD equipment and associated robotics at customer sites Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and software-related issues; escalate complex problems as needed Gather and report technical data to global engineering teams for issue resolution Document all service and maintenance activities accurately Install and manage equipment control software; maintain revision history records Support equipment installations and system start-up at customer facilities Monitor and manage spare parts inventory to ensure availability for repairs and maintenance Provide technical training and support to customer engineering teams Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders Follow all customer site protocols, including potential COVID-19 safety requirements Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate's degree preferred 2-4 years of experience in a technical field, with preference for vacuum equipment or semiconductor industry experience Experience with multi-chamber cluster tools and robotics is highly desirable Strong understanding of vacuum systems, mechanical assemblies, and electrical schematics Familiarity with PLCs and control software is a plus Ability to work independently following structured training and hands-on instruction Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Must have a valid driver\'s license and clean driving record Must possess or be able to obtain valid travel documents for international travel Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a cleanroom environment (full PPE required) Bilingual communication skills (Japanese/English) are a plus, but not required Work Conditions

Frequent standing, walking, handling small components, and use of precision tools Occasional kneeling, climbing, reaching, and lifting Close visual work for inspections and technical operations Exposure to cleanroom and potentially hazardous conditions (e.g., lasers, chemicals, enclosed spaces) Fast-paced, high-pressure situations requiring quick and effective technical resolution
