Growing and mission-driven health services / insurance company in Austin, TX is seeking a Senior Accounting Manager. This is a high-impact and highly visible leadership role that is an exceptional opportunity for a hands-on, solutions-oriented finance professional who is passionate about team development, process improvement, and navigating the unique complexities of accounting. Reporting directly to the Controller, this role will oversee core accounting functions, lead statutory reporting efforts, and ensure strong internal controls across multiple entities. Key Features

Ensure accurate general ledger accounting and timely close processes, including intercompany transactions and eliminations Lead the preparation and filing of statutory financial statements for insurance entities Act as a primary liaison to external audit firms for both GAAP and statutory audits Address complex accounting matters including consolidations, revenue recognition, leases, and financial instruments Develop, mentor, and manage a team of accounting professionals Establish, monitor, and continuously improve internal controls and compliance with Model Audit Rule (MAR) and / or SOX Implement and maintain accounting policies and procedures specific to health insurance entities Identify and lead process improvements to streamline operations and enhance reporting accuracy Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field CPA license 6+ years of progressive accounting experience, including experience leading or mentoring teams In-depth understanding of US GAAP and technical accounting principles Experience supporting financial audits, including preparation of audit schedules and documentation Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills Comfortable operating in fast-paced and regulated environments Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines Experience in health insurance or insurance accounting, preferred Familiarity with statutory accounting principles, Model Audit Rule (MAR), or SOX compliance, preferred Prior experience with NetSuite or similar ERP system, preferred Big 4 or large regional public accounting background, preferred Demonstrated success in leading process improvement or automation initiatives, preferred
