Provide clinical services according to radiology practice standards to ensure optimal department functions. Demonstrate skills and knowledge in the use of all x-ray equipment and performance of all x-ray protocols and procedures. Demonstrate technical proficiency in producing high-quality exams within the appropriate length of time for procedures. Maintain a satisfactory working knowledge of PACS; review scans with radiologists as needed for important anatomic detail and areas of abnormalities. Confirm patient identity, body part, and body side for every patient prior to the procedure. Administer sound patient care practices according to department and hospital policies to ensure patient safety. Communicate effectively with patients to obtain clinical history/informed consent; explain procedures to patients/families; ease anxiety and ensure cooperation. Demonstrate the ability to recognize clinical or emergent problems that may interfere with exams and take appropriate action to resolve them to achieve desirable outcomes. Respond to and follow up on critical test findings. Acquire and evaluate patient lab values to ensure they are within normal limits when applicable (e.g., BUN, creatinine, pregnancy, glucose). Maintain equipment, exam rooms, and work areas in neat and safe condition to ensure patient and staff safety. Check and inspect the suite, equipment, and accessories daily for hazards; troubleshoot malfunctions and report dangerous conditions; maintain supplies and cleanliness; disinfect equipment and manage linen inventory. Maintain quality control checks in accordance with policy requirements. Participate in department QC and PI programs; follow up on deficiencies. Maintain proper sterile technique and adhere to aseptic practices and body substance isolation policies; wear a film badge and comply with badge-related policies. Complete ancillary tasks to ensure efficient and consistent departmental operations. Accurately record information on requisitions; perform routine clerical duties; input and verify data in PACS/RADIANT. Qualifications

Education:

Associates degree from an accredited institution or two-year certification program in Radiologic Technology or equivalent (including training from United States Armed Forces). License/Certification:

American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS); Active license or temporary permit issued by the Louisiana State Radiologic Technology Board of Examiners (LSRTBE); Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT(R)). Work Shift
