Pratt Miller is looking for a NASCAR Track Support Engineer to join its Competition Engineering Team. This engineering role will serve as a key team support role that would support the race team’s engineering efforts across multiple areas including software tool support, race engineering, reporting, simulation, and general engineering support. This role will support the newly formed Dodge RAM NASCAR effort that will start racing in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series starting in 2026.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Define, develop, and oversee the execution of projects that drive process improvement, team effectiveness, and vehicle performance Manage collaboration between engineering teams to drive towards deliverables Define project scope, requirements, and success criteria in alignment with program and performance goals Direct timelines, budgets, and resource allocation to deliver projects on schedule and within constraints Serve as an experienced engineering resource in support of engineering efforts: Provide group level guidance in vehicle model simulation development and correlation, oversee rig, simulation, and track testing with respect to project deliverables and output, and be responsible for providing guidance and feedback in the development of internal toolsets and processes. Race Team Support
Act as the main point of contact for Pratt Miller tools and engineering support Support the team through use of internal documentation, tool sets, and knowledge base including but not limited to pre/post event reporting, Vehicle Engineering System (VES) and mileage tracking, simulation tools, Drive-in-the-Loop (DiL) testing, and race strategy Pre-event support and shop-based preparation to assist the team’s race weekend preparation through generation and distribution of pre-event report documentation, participation in pre-event meeting, performance of pre-event strategy analysis, performance of pre-event simulation work and setup optimization, and support of any DiL or static sim sessions. At-event support of the team: assist in vehicle setup tracking, perform simulation and correlation work as needed, assist in race strategy planning and execution, and support the use of Pratt Miller tools by the team Post Event Support To Advance Customer And Program Performance
Documentation and reporting on performance and operation issues and opportunities Participate in team event debrief meetings Participation/organization of meetings to review above mentioned information with Pratt Miller team to advance tools, processes, and technology Team Member Interactions
This role will interface heavily with our team. Overall communication and interaction are expected to be handled in a collaborative manner for the overall improvement of performance and execution. Required
BS in engineering or other advanced technical background Background in motorsport with 5-7 years of experience, including trackside Background in vehicle dynamics and simulation engineering Desired Specialized Knowledge And Skills
Group or project management experience General engineering background covered as part of duties outlined above Knowledge of vehicle dynamics, race strategy, and Familiar with data acquisition systems - Preferably motorsport based (Motec, PI Toolbox) Experience in general data review and processing (Python, Matlab, Excel) Work Environment/Physical Demands
Stress may occur periodically Long hours may be required at times Travel required but would vary on support needs. Total travel commitments can range from 50 to 120 days a year Work environment can vary between group and individual assignments and tasks Other Requirements
Ability to travel outside of continental US with no restrictions Pay Range
$82,000.00 - $132,800.00. The above pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target pay for the position across all U.S. locations. Within this range, individual pay is determined by various factors, including the scope and responsibilities of the role, the candidate's experience, education and skills, as well as the equity of pay among team members in similar positions.
