Sr. Manufacturing Engineer, Material Flow
What To Expect
The Tesla team is seeking a motivated Manufacturing Engineer to design the material flow for Global Factory Design projects for Vehicle and Energy Products. This role focuses on the end-to-end design of material flow, from concept design through handoff of a fully detailed plan to Operations. Responsibilities include designing the inbound loading process, identifying material handling equipment needs, specifying equipment to minimize manual handling, and ensuring efficient lineside space design. A solid understanding of Manufacturing Engineering fundamentals and first-principles problem solving with aggressive design optimization is required. This position is based in Austin, TX. The team works to develop factory designs that integrate production, material flow, construction, and facilities teams, with a focus on innovation and collaboration with internal and external teams.
The ideal candidate will thrive in a demanding, fast-paced environment within a strong, agile, and motivated team. The role requires thoroughness, analytical ability, organizational skills, and a team mentality. Applicants should be able to think at a systems level about ambiguous problems and develop models that drive optimal factory design decisions.
