The COMET contract provides overall management and implementation of ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing, and launch operations at NASA's Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Florida. These tasks will support the International Space Station, Ground Systems Development and Operations, and the Space Launch System, Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle, and Launch Services programs. This position is responsible for PLC development, maintenance, and testing within the KGCS Software organization. This team is responsible for monitoring the health and status of all PLCs within the health network and emergency safing. Responsibilities
Monitor test hardware calibration dates and ensure equipment does not go overdue for calibration. Complete all PLC build requests and monitor the build status. Keep all affected Configuration Management Control Items updated with the latest code. Learn testing procedures and be knowledgeable about their process. Monitor all Development Activities pertaining to PLC development. Address Non-Conformance issues and troubleshoot as necessary. Have a general understanding of PLCs and duties surrounding their development. Attend and provide support for team meetings. Qualifications
Bachelor of Science (BS) in Engineering or technical equivalent from an accredited institution. Depending on the candidate’s experience, requirements, and business needs, we reserve the right to consider candidates at any level for which this position has been advertised. Highly Desirable:
Experience with PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) Software development, maintenance, and integration processes. Experience with formal test activities and processes. Experience interfacing with Customers and Management. Demonstrated written and verbal presentation skills for delivery of technical subject matter to internal and external customers, and the management team. Physical Requirements
Will be required to climb stairs to access equipment for troubleshooting. Climbing ladders and platforms will be necessary. Will be required to wear hearing protection, eye protection and other associated personal protective equipment. Position may involve extended periods of sitting or standing. Physical requirements are sitting, walking, standing, extensive use of stairs, and access to remote structures. Must be able to work in tight confined space areas. Work Environment
All work must be completed in a safe manner in accordance with NASA and Company safety standards. Will be required to work inside and outside throughout the test complex. Position requires daily travel to different areas on site. Walking on uneven terrain including paved areas, gravel/rocks, and dirt/sand is required to access various locations on the facility. Equipment and Machines
Cranes and other heavy equipment such as crane carriers, Hi-Rangers, man lift platforms, hydraulic lifts, spider staging, converter dollies, cargo lifts, and tractor/trailers. Operate computer terminals, personal computers, and related peripheral equipment to maintain/adjust database logs and records, print documents and record work performance. Office equipment including computer, scanner, copy machine, telephone, laser printer, fax machine, and other supplies. Attendance
Work assignments are normally 8 hours shifts, 5 consecutive days per week. Must be dependable and punctual. Occasional overtime, sometimes with short notice, is required to meet demanding schedules. Other Essential Functions
If offered a position, proof of U.S. Citizenship or Legal Permanent Resident/Green Card holder of the United States is required. Clear, concise, and accurate communication skills are essential. Must have ability to work well with office staff and customer representatives. Government security clearance may be required in the future. Must be able to travel to support position requirements, including travel to customer locations; accommodations can be made for POV if necessary. Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and not pose a safety risk. Maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating to foster good relations with customers, clients, co-workers, and management. Must possess and maintain a valid CDL with endorsements Florida driver’s license. Must pass a federal background investigation.
