The Plant Manager (PM) position oversees all areas of manufacturing from production through delivery, directing activities so that approved products are manufactured on schedule and within quality, safety, and cost standards. The PM manages the production environment including engineering, material planning and scheduling, production control, material handling and inventory, assembly & manufacturing, maintenance & facilities, packaging, and shipping & logistics. The PM should have experience with Lean principles, KPIs, dashboards, etc., in a job shop manufacturing and assembly environment. The PM carries out managerial and supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws, fosters maximum production flow, and ensures safety and quality. The PM has proven experience implementing Lean principles throughout manufacturing operations. Responsibilities
Assists company officers and senior staff in developing long- and short-range plans, policies, programs, and objectives Develops the manufacturing plan and establishes procedures to maintain high standards of manufacturing operations, ensuring products conform to customer and company quality standards within the production environment Achieves optimum employee levels with minimal overhead and raw material costs to meet or exceed annual budgetary plans Formulates and recommends manufacturing policies and programs to guide the organization in maintaining and improving its competitive position and profitability Manages all aspects of facilities operations and needs, ensuring maintenance policies and procedures maximize uptime and product specifications are met Plans, executes, and manages lean fundamentals in all aspects of the production environment; leads the implementation, support, and maintenance of lean principles across departments Directs and monitors department managers to achieve goals of the manufacturing plan, communicating with personnel across levels Hires, trains, develops, and evaluates staff; takes corrective action as necessary in accordance with company policy; ensures compliance with regulations; consults with Human Resources as appropriate Identifies, recommends, and implements changes to improve productivity and reduce cost and scrap; monitors scrap and rework data Directs the establishment, implementation, and maintenance of production standards Directs and coordinates programs essential to manufacturing procedures (e.g., training, safety, housekeeping, cost reduction, worker involvement, security) Initiates and coordinates major projects (e.g., plant layout changes, capital equipment installation, major repairs) Performs other duties and projects as assigned Qualifications
