Manage operations by performing tasks such as processing customer orders, dispatching deliveries, delivering concrete, and completing functions related to the operation of a ready mix plant. Work with diverse projects and contractors daily. Take ownership of the role by checking concrete quality, maintaining courteous customer relations, and leading a team that feels like family. Primary Responsibilities: Batch concrete using manual and computerized systems Understand mix designs and visually inspect the mix for proper materials, verify load size to ticket, check for proper slump, and make adjustments Process customer orders and determine yardage Schedule available trucks to meet order schedules Prepare daily and weekly run schedules for efficiency and cost-effectiveness Order and coordinate deliveries from suppliers as well as internal teams Have basic knowledge of concrete finishing problems and their causes Troubleshoot problems in a dry batch concrete plant and with mixer trucks Provide excellent customer service by communicating professionally with customers to complete delivery, collect payment, and attract future business Develop the team by leading, training, motivating, and directing employees; resolve grievances through coaching and, when necessary, disciplinary actions Promote a safe work environment while facilitating weekly management and safety meetings Balance profitability with business considerations Maintain and account for all assigned equipment including vehicles, plant, and shop to promote a clean, organized, and safe workplace Complete required paperwork and administrative duties (payroll, invoice approvals, ticketing, inventory) using computers, tablets, or cell phones to ensure proper accounting and timekeeping practices (pre-trip inspections, time reporting, truck reports, trip tickets, etc.) Support operational needs by operating a ready mix truck as needed, while complying with DOT regulations and performing pre/post-trip inspections Be a team player and cross-train on topics such as dispatching, batching, and mechanics Willingness to perform duties outside the normal scope of work as this job description is non-exhaustive Position Requirements: Consent to pre-employment work screening, Motor Vehicle Record request, and drug test Class A or B CDL and current Medical DOT card ACI certification and knowledge of various ACI tests Basic knowledge of concrete finishing problems and their causes Self-motivated and able to solve problems as they arise Personal protective equipment is required Excellent communication skills and the ability to understand instructions in both written and verbal forms Dependability and reliability; punctuality and preparedness for work A positive attitude to maintain productive working relationships Continuous exposure to weather elements including heat, cold, noise, and dusty conditions Overnight travel is not standard but may be required Physical Requirements: Ability to reach below/at/above shoulders Pushing/Pulling/Twisting/Bending Sitting/Standing/Balancing Operate hand and foot controls Simple/Firm grasping/Pinching Ability to lift/lower/carry over 50 pounds Squatting/Stooping/Crouching/Kneeling/Crawling Croell, Inc. is an EEO/AA (equal opportunity/affirmative action) institution and does not discriminate based on race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, age, disability, or any other characteristic protected by law.
